We are looking for a General Manager for the newly founded association Superar International (30 hours per week). 

The organization: 

Superar works with professional musicians to offer children and young people free access to cultural support. In this way, the multi-layered positive impact of music reaches children and young people, regardless of their cultural, religious, linguistic and economic background.  

Superar International serves as a vital support system for the seven Superar country organizations across Europe (Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland). It optimizes organizational processes, enhances knowledge management, facilitates best-practice exchange and ensures program quality. Additionally, it organizes regular exchanges for both program participants and the Superar staff. The new focus will be on further developing network-level fundraising to secure the long-term sustainability of the network activities and support the Superar country organizations in financing their programs.  

The General Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of Superar international, responsible for the overall leadership and management of Superar International operational and administrative functions. Working under the guidance of the Executive Board (EB), the General Manager is accountable for the organization’s strategic vision implementation and the results achieved.    

Job description:  

  • Overall responsibility for the conduct of business in accordance with the rules of procedure as Managing Director of Superar International.
  • Development of measures to advance the purpose of the association, as well as quality control and prioritisation.  
  • Development of effective fundraising plans and activities. 
  • Oversee and advance the development of new funding streams for Superar International and the network countries, broadening the donor base and encouraging increased investment in Superar programs and projects. 
  • Building long-term relationships with international companies, foundations, major private donors and development of revenue opportunities through the services of the Superar network at international and local level.   
  • Finance and controlling, including budget compilation and preparation of financial statements.  
  • Coordination and liaising with cooperation partners, supporters and funding bodies.
  • Coordination of Superar International, including network level marketing. 
  • Personnel management of the international team.  

The General Manager’s primary responsibilities are as set out below:  

  • Ensure that the organizational structure, operational policies and other business processes are sound and able effectively to deliver on the strategic objectives. 
  • Strengthen performance management by tracking key performance indicators across the organization.
  • Assist the Board in evolving and strengthening the overall governance of Superar International.   
  • Represent Superar International and maintain effective communications with all stakeholders.  
  • Partner engagement, working with the EB, and mobilizing resources. 
  • Financial management, present annual financial budgets for EB approval that link to the corporate workplan, and more routinely throughout the fiscal year. 
  • Work closely with the accountant to ensure the overall transparent and effective financial and administrative functionality. 
  • Strategic Leadership ensuring collaboration in between the network organisations. 
  • Maintain a positive work environment that facilitates collaboration and information sharing and is conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating diverse talent.   

What we expect:   

  • International fundraising experience is essential (minimum of 5 years of international fundraising experience), with proven track record of success. Experience in submissions to EU grants, such as Creative Europe, etc. is an advantage. 
  • Experience and diplomatic skills in dealing with various stakeholders in an international organisation is an advantage.  
  • Fluent in English, any other network language is an advantage (BCMS, German, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak.)
